Gino Vitale was born in Italy, as a young boy he traveled to Sardinia to study restaurant and hotel service and management at Enalc School.   He has spent his entire career in the service industry working in Florence, London, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Diego and on the Princess Cruise line. 
 
In 2002 he has reached his goal, opening his own small restaurant in the UTC region of San Diego.  Barolo opened in March of 2002, it became clear to Gino that in order to succed he would need a chef as a partner.  It was not hard for Gino to strike a deal with Luca as they were familiar with each others abilities since working together in La Jolla in 1998.  Gino has fallen head over heels with the customers and the community.  He adores the support and continued well wishes. 

Luca Mazzolani began attending culinary schoold at the age of 14 in Senigallia, Italy.  Graduating first in his class opened the doors of opportunity for Luca to work in various prestigious restaurants around the world.  His travels took him as far as Moscow where he had the opportunity to work with chef Fabio Trabocchi one of 2003 top ten new best chefs in America. 

Luca continued his travels and training with Bice Ristorante in New York, eventually landing in San Diego as Executive Chef.  When Luca returned to Italy he realized his dream was to return to San Diego.  He returned to work at Sante Ristorante in La Jolla.  He remained there for seven years, during which he met Gino Vitale.  Luca and Gino became partners in January 2003 at Barolo's.
